Broadcast System Integration & Consultation
Drawing on decades of experience from developing, building and maintaining the broadcast infrastructure of the MediaCorp Group, the largest and most established broadcaster in Singapore, as well as supporting the needs of international broadcasters, our technical expertise in the entire value chain is second to none.
For analog broadcasting services, we have built and still operate a television station (5 channels), a FM radio (13 channels) and short-wave radio station and a satellite uplink/downlink facility. In digital transmission, we were the first worldwide to build and operate the Digital Mobile TV transmission network, comprising of a main transmission facility and multiple repeater stations synchronized into a SFN (Single Frequency Network).
Besides Digital TV, MediaCorp Technologies also builds and operates a DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) service as well. In conjunction with the development and operation of transmission facilities, we had also built and run a Radio Technical Centre and a TV Digital Media Centre and to support the radio and TV playout services for our sister companies.
Satellite, DSNG & Microwave Services
Our teleport is strategically located in the city with a 24/ 7 Operations Centre that offers quick turnaround and payout services. With well- placed dishes, we are able to offer excellent connectivity to international and regional satellites. Our fully-steerable Earth Station provides quick turnaround even for ad-hoc requests, giving you the shortest time to market and maximum flexibility to connect.
Furthermore, with our mobile fly-away Digital Satellite News Gathering unit (DSNG), you can ensure perfect coverage of time-sensitive events like fast-breaking news, sports, opening ceremonies and meetings. Anytime, Anywhere. Globally.
However, if you require comprehensive coverage locally, our extensive microwave (both fixed and portable) coverage provides video linkage anywhere in Singapore. Digital Mobile Truck From simple video capture to professional broadcast production, our television production team takes care of every facet of video production, including the management of projects, large or small. Live Heart Surgery Conference
Enabling Knowledge Sharing at Cardiology Conference
Organised by National Heart Centre of Singapore and sponsored by Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology, the Singapore LIVE Course in Interventional Cardiology had its twelfth run in January 2003.
The four-day event focused on coronary and peripheral interventions and attracted more than a thousand medical practitioners from around the world. As part of the learning experience, live operations performed in Thailand, France and Australia and at the National Heart Centre were beamed to the conference attendees on three of the four days. MediaCorp Technologies has been providing the end-to-end broadcasting solutions for the live transmission when the Singapore Live Course initiated the live surgery demos in 1999.
All the operations conducted at the National Heart Centre were transmitted via the state-of-the-art outside-broadcast TV vans deployed by MediaCorp Technologies. The van was parked on-site and linked by cable to the three operating theatres in which the procedures were performed. Feeds to the van included the output from the 2-3 cameras in each Operating Theatre, electrocardiography and fluoroscopy machines. The surgical teams were equipped with wireless headsets to communicate and answer questions posed by the conference attendees live in Suntec City. There was a doctor stationed in the van to provide guidance on the footage being send via microwave to a control room in the convention centre, where a group of moderators was on hand to provide commentary and advice.
MediaCorp Technologies also provided project management expertise for the live transmission from Thailand, France and Australia which included the liaison work with the broadcasting solutions providers, satellite operators in the three countries, and leasing of backup phone lines.
